We had coffee in what appeared to be the main hub of Aigre, the nearby town to where we were visiting friends. Appropriately named ‘The Square’ they offer a range of food throughout the day and I remember coming here as a child. So naturally we asked to reserve a table for the final farewell meal, but alas on that particular evening they were closed. Still, dam good coffee though!
Apparently this is where the men came to reflect on life.
And then realise that life is pretty awesome!
Margarita, one of our wonderful hosts, and I had chosen to leave the men ‘reflecting’ and nip to the bakery where they had a beautiful selection of cakes and goodies to choose from as a treat for afternoon tea! How sophisticated is that!
We headed back to the headquarters to rest and lounge in the sun, and to prepare for the evening feast. A certain chap was always pleased to see and greet us back…
After sufficient ‘lounging’ had taken place we headed to another restaurant that was thankfully open, called ‘le Bilboquet’.
They really liked their frog ornaments in this place…
…but nothing could distract me from this epic fish taco they placed in front of me! ‘Twas a delicious monster!
Now you wouldn’t think it, but I did have a smidgen bit of room left for dessert (when in France an’ all) and the Tirimisu fit that space quite nicely!
By the time we rolled out of the restaurant darkness had fallen, and everything was beautifully lit up.
Such a nice evening to end my little taste of France this summer. Short, sweet and well worth it. Our hosts and dear friends were amazing and made us feel at home from the second we set foot on the premises! I love these people very much. Hope to visit again soon. Au Revoir!
