Fenty Beauty Foundation Review: Acne Test

You know how the saying goes, new year…new foundation…right? Maybe that’s too specific.

Anyway, I can safely say its been a while since I’ve found a product that truly delivers what it says on the label, or lives up to the hype. The wait is over. This Fenty Beuaty Foundation is the tits!

This week I made a beauty pilgrimage to Harvey Nichols (which unfortunately is the only place you can find the Fenty Beauty line). Like a kid at her second christmas I skipped towards the pretty shiny Fenty counters, excited to get my swatch on! Almost immediately, I was stopped by a very dapper but at the same time slightly intimidating security guard who informed me that if I wanted to “get my swatch on”, I had to que. Away from the counters. In fact in a door way. I had to exit and re-enter the building just to join this extra special que in the middle of nowhere. Now don’t get me wrong, Fenty is super exciting and probably does require organised ques. But, on a Monday afternoon, way after the product launch window has come and gone, I feel a que is a little excessive. Why can’t I play on my own? Why do I have to have a tour guide???

After proving my dedication to Rhianna by waiting in a drafty doorway, I was finally introduced to a tall, leggy, just overtly beautiful woman who asked me if there was anything in particular I was interested in. If I’m being honest, I was interested in everything, but chose to play it cool and go for the product I’ve heard the most about – the foundation.

Colour matching commenced, and I finally became the proud owner of the shade 140 soft matte longwear foundation (packaged up in a beautiful Harvey Nichols ribbon bow bag).

Firstly the packaging. Tall. White. Frosted glass. Pump included. These are all things that make my thumbs rise to the heavens! I love the minimalistic look. The foundation itself is liquid, not too runny not too thick. It applies and spreads well with a buffing brush (I use Real Techniques) and the most important feature in my opinion is that this foundation is build-able. From an acne sufferer’s point of view, this allows me to focus on covering the areas that I’m affected by the most. The overall verdict? I love it! I love the light matte finish. I do add a small amount of translucent powder to set the product but I’m pretty sure I could get away with no powder at all. This foundation lasted ALL DAY LONG (granted I wasn’t really putting it through its paces, however, what I saw was damn encouraging). The only con I can see with this foundation is that it takes a few seconds to dry which is something to bare in mind when you are building in certain areas.

What foundation are you kicking off the New Year with? Are you a Fenty Beauty Fan?
